[The following is a transcript of a recorded phone message put out by a group in Chicago called "Citizens' Committee to Clean Up the Courts [CCCC]." (312) 731-1100 and (312) 731-1505.]
Hi! Sherman Skolnick, Citizens' Committee to Clean Up the Courts, 9800 Oglesby.
Historically, the Chicago suburb of Cicero has been a notorious Mafia stronghold -- similar to Palermo, Sicily. Cicero Catholic bishop Paul Marcinkas(sp?) went on to the Vatican where, for a number of years, he was head of the Vatican Bank.
Over the years, various proceedings of the Republic of Italy and elsewhere brought up about Marcinkas' reported role with the Vatican in "washing" bloody assassination and other "dirty tricks" funds for the American CIA, as well as for gangster groups from Sicily and elsewhere! Involved have been reported drug smuggling of billions of dollars!
Some press reports say Italy wants the U.S. to return Marcinkas for a trial implicating him in reported massive criminal enterprises. The Italian consul-general here, however, would have to be informed:
ITALIAN CONSUL-GENERAL:
I can inquire to see if there has been an extradition
proposed, if there was some article in the Italian press. I,
and this must be, I didn't see anything in the Italian press
to that effect. But I might [unclear] article elsewhere.
SHERMAN SKOLNICK:
He was formerly the head of the Vatican...
CONSUL-GENERAL:
I know...
CONSUL-GENERAL:
I know... Reverend Marcinkas. Yes, I know very well.
CONSUL-GENERAL:
Yes, that too. But...
CONSUL-GENERAL:
What does "immunity from the Vatican"...
CONSUL-GENERAL:
Well sir, this is a very specific question; I'm not able to
answer that. I say that if there is a trial on, there will
be, there will be decisions made and [unclear] formed. But
you understand that this is not something that we are, huh-
huh, monitoring and following closely.
CONSUL-GENERAL:
Yes. But we haven't received any information to that effect.
CONSUL-GENERAL:
The position of Mr. Marcinkas, the Reverend... Bishop
Marcinkas, by the way, is, has in the past been related to
given events, etcetera. But I am not, huh-huh, especially
informed [on] the matter. It's not a matter that consul-
generals of Italy do handle.
The office of Catholic Archbishop of Chicago wanted to be non- committal on the matter as well:

No, that's not my understanding, sir. Archbishop Marcinkas is
a priest of the archdiocese of Chicago. But it's my
understanding he does not live in the Chicago area. He's
retired. And I'm sorry, his address is not listed in our
directory of priests. So my only assumption is that, because
he's retired and because he hasn't led a very public life in
Rome for many years, that his name is not listed and a way of
contacting him is not listed.
Despite that, another church spokesperson did give Marcinkas' current address:

Marcinkas has been the dominant force behind the reported criminal enterprise known as the First National Bank of Cicero, taken over by Pinnacle Bank Group, which in turn is operating the Bank of Credit and Commerce International [BCCI]. False press reports say the infamous BCCI is defunct. Oh yeah?? Yet Pinnacle is operating as their alter-ego. Household International, and their units, Household Banks, reportedly aided Marcinkas and his dope [money] laundering.
