Conspiracy Nation -- Vol. 5 Num. 19

("Quid coniuratio est?")

[CN Editor -- I cannot vouch for the accuracy of all of the following. It may or may not be true, I just don't know.]

[The following is a transcript of a recorded phone message put out by a group in Chicago called "Citizens' Committee to Clean Up the Courts [CCCC]." (312) 731-1100 and (312) 731-1505.]

Hi! Sherman Skolnick, Citizens' Committee to Clean Up the Courts, 9800 South Oglesby.

The Clinton White House is over-run with various domestic scandals. Clinton needs a war, or war scare, to divert attention.

A group of Chicago-area lawyers and others went to Bosnia to promote peace -- including attorney Andrew B. Speigel(sp?) from Wheaton, experienced in international law. On their return, they got the cold shoulder from the State Department and the mass media here.

ANDREW SPEIGEL: We contacted [unclear], ABC-Nightline, by fax, to his home and to his office. We contacted CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Times, the Chicago Tribune, WBBM Newsradio 78, all the major news media. Nobody would respond to us.

He says only a few, small suburban papers carried small stories about their return and what they were trying to do over in Bosnia.

ANDREW SPEIGEL: There were people we talked to there who said that a lot of money is being made now, on the sanctions, because, basically, if you co-opt the right people, you can get whatever you want into the country.

Also part of the peace delegation was trial lawyer James P. Nagle(sp?), of Wheaton.

JAMES NAGLE: I think you have to look at, and ask the question, how much money was made by the armaments money, armaments industry, in Vietnam, and ask yourself the question: Has anything changed since then?

SHERMAN SKOLNICK: You went, at your own time and expense, you two gentlemen and Mike Povlovich(sp?), a Serbian-American.

Mr. Povlovich, tell us from your standpoint: you say you're not in politics and you're not a lawyer. (You have a lawyer representing you, Mr. Speigel.) What were you trying to do in going over there to promote peace?

MR. POVLOVICH: I want to say that my goal is to stop bloodshed, that is first of all. And everybody should sit around the table, and talk, and negotiate until they find a solution. If we negotiate, we will be able to find a solution, but if we don't, I don't believe that we are able to find any kind of solution.

SHERMAN SKOLNICK: Um, do you have your own explanation why some do not want a solution? Is it for the cynical reason that I offer: that big business, the weapons business, they don't want peace; they'd just as soon have bloodshed in, where some of your relatives come from, in Bosnia?

MR. POVLOVICH: I believe you are right about this, regarding, about the business is going over there, in Bosnia -- because that is big business. I was there with John [unclear], and we saw that, big business going. But again, I, repeating, we should stop everything. We should stop killing over there. And we should negotiate to stop this war, and go normalize.

SHERMAN SKOLNICK: Anyone can tell from your accent that you evidently are from overseas. But America is your country now. What do you make of the fact that America, your country, did not play you up in the mass media, and that the only sizeable function you were on is the cable show that I and my associates operate? What do you make of the fact that your country now, America, didn't want to know?? I mean, they didn't...

MR. POVLOVICH: America is my country, that's true. And I love America. That is the best system in the world -- democratic system. We can work, and make money and lose money. That is life. But America, what it's doing, that they don't want to tell the truth on the all sides. But. But that is good question. I cannot answer. I cannot answer that question.

ANDREW SPEIGEL OR JAMES NAGLE: One reason one might offer to answer that question is that, from history, before ground troops, United States ground troops, have been committed to any foreign country, a public relations effort is committed here in the United States to vilify that nationality. {1}. And that's what's clearly is goin' on now, that Serbs are clearly being vilified.

The whole communications industry is now controlled by just six monopoly corporations -- who also promote the war business. Such as General Electric, owner of NBC. So, this is just another story killed by the news fakers: the liars and whores of the press.

You can see the 1-hour cable show of this, in Chicago, on channel 21, 9 pm, Monday night, June 26th.

Play it again: "U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno: Is She a Rotten Crook!?" (312) 731-1505.

New message Wednesday; we change it several times a week.

Donations appreciated. Citizen's Committee to Clean Up the Courts, 9800 South Oglesby, Chicago, [Illinois] 60617. For the latest on courts, banks, espionage agencies, political assassinations, and the news media. On 24 hours a day.

---------------------------<< Notes >>--------------------------- {1} "...to vilify that nationality." Question: Was Air Force pilot O'Grady set up? CBN reports today (June 12, 1995) that O'Grady's F-16 was locked in on radar by Serb forces. According to CBN, normally it is standard operating procedure to first send in air power to knock out enemy radar before sending in F- 16s. But this wasn't done, leaving O'Grady open to being locked in by Serb radar and subsequently shot down.

Was it just a screw-up? Or was this done purposefully so as to increase tensions?
